Hey everyone,

I was cruising home last night on my 60+ mile commute enjoying the evening and the sound of my own exhaust when it occurred to me that sometimes the Savage is a little tempermental. It could just be my imagination, but some days she just seems to run better than others. Don't get me wrong, the differences are usually subtle. If I didn't ride her every day I probably wouldn't notice. Some evenings I'm cruising at close to 70mph and the engine seems to be running smooth and not so busy. Other days, she feels like she might expolode at 65mph. Some days she feels really tourqey in traffic and other days she seems kind of lathargic. I started thinking about this, and my theory is that the Savage is very sensitive to outside temperature and humidity. In other words, the carb is extremely affected by the current weather conditions. This may explain why some of you have experienced sudden inexplicable loss of power at speed and sudden engine dying (and not finding a cause). I think she has a tendency to run better on cool mornings. I think the air/gas mixture must be just right at those temperatures. Has anyone else noticed this about their Savage? Or have I just been in the saddle to long?
